F/Lt Otto Smik DFC - sq. leader 312. sq. was on this Spit (orig. r/n ML 296 - HF.MK.IX version) shot down by flak during strafing on Gilze-Rijen AB 3.9.1944 (Ramrod 1258). After emergency landing escaped captivity and returned to England. Died 28. 11. 1944 as sq. leader 127. sq. during a raid on the station in Zwolle, where he was again shot down by flak. | Remarks: | Bacfire C the 185 GvTBAP (GuardsHeavy Bomber Aviation Division) Departure from Hradec Kralove to its home base A2673 Poltava AB. Airbase was abolished in 2006. Most of the aircraft was based on the military doctrine of Ukraine scrapped. In order that these machines have been sold off to back Russia, USA paid several hundred million dollars for these machines and let them scrap. Today, lies at the Museum of long-range and strategic aviation, and these Tu-16 Badger, Tu-22M2, Tu 22M3, Tu-22KD Blinder, Tu-95MS Bear, Tu-134UBL Crusty, Tu-160 Blackjack, Su-15 Flagon, Su-24 Fencer, Mig-21 Fishbed, An-26 Curl, An-2, L-29 Maya, L-39 Albatros. /Scan from slide/. | |||
